Because we need to spill over outside. The auction is so big. I thought I would take all kinds of cool pictures but the auction is just too big. Unless the room grows tremedously, it must not rain because the food is going to be a picnic.

I am going to stop counting now until after the fundraiser. I need to spend the rest of my time putting together the auction items. We have a lot of stuff with more cool things arriving daily.

We're working on the food like little elves. The food will be reasonable priced. Hot dogs are a dollar. Chips 50 cents. I think Bar-b-q will probably be 2$. We're going to have pepsi products, ice water, juice boxes for the little folks and goldfish crackers. There will also be pizza.

The children's games have all been delivered. We're going to have carnival favorites like ring toss and skeet ball. With a few newer ones such as flip flop faces. We're also going to have the "cupcake walk".

There are even more auction items on the way. It is impossible for me to keep up with the pace of the new items.

Listen to The Chief 92.5 FM! The Chief is running announcements all the time about the fundraiser. A big Thank You to Ryan at The Chief for working so hard to make it happen. The Chief will be live at the fundraiser from 2 - 3 pm Saturday as part of their Friends and Neighbors Tour.

Lots and lots of small locally owned businesses have donated and donated to make this possible. We couldn't have done it without all the support. We'll continue to update all the businesses as quickly as we can in the sidebar.

Another big Thank You to Lance of Dixon Graphics. I called him a two or three weeks ago and asked for his help and he has been unwavering in his support. All of those yellow signs up all over town were from Dixon Graphics and the programs are also being printed by Dixon Graphics.

Auction Rules

General Rules:

1. All sales are final. No exchanges or refunds permitted. Everything is sold
“as is.” Please read specifications and limitations carefully. All items must
be removed from the site by the end of the auction.
2. By his/her purchase, the buyer waives any claims for liability against either
this organization or the donor of the property or services. Neither the orga
nization nor donor is responsible for any personal injuries or damages to
property that may result from the use of the property or services sold.
3. Payment in full is required for all items by the end of the auction. Cash and
checks will be accepted. Items may be paid for individually at the closing of
each item or collectively at the end of the auction. After payment is made,
the cashier will issue a receipt, which is needed to claim the items.
4. Bidder numbers will be issued at registration. Upon receiving this number,
each bidder is responsible for the use of it throughout the auction.
5. Absentee bids cannot be accepted.
6. Check with your own tax advisor as to the deductibility of the purchase of
each item.
Silent Auction Rules

1. All sales are final.
2. Names of winners will be posted as soon as possible after each section is
closed.
3. Bidding will close by section.
4. Each bid must have the same name, auction number, and bid legibly printed.
5. You may bid as often as you like on each item.
6. You must be present to win. Payment and pick-up must occur by the close
of the auction or the next bidder will be entitled to the item.
7. If the proper raise in price has not been adhered to, the previous bidder will
be entitled to the item.
8. In the event of a dispute, a designated Auction Official will determine the
winning bidder or will reoffer and resell the items in dispute. The Auction
Official’s decision will be final.
9. An Auction Official may disqualify the bid of any person blocking the bid
ding table within 15 minutes prior to closing. The closing bid circled by an
Auction Official will constitute the winning bid. All closing times will be
strictly enforced.

I'm also going to try and find a way to get the auction book online or emailable for those who would like a sneak peak at what we are going to offer. The items are still rolling in. The last tally was $7533.12 in retail auction items and $292 in door prizes. There are many items not in that total. If you have an auction item, we need it by the weekend to get it into the printed auction booklet.

Jill asked in the comments how she can participate if you are out-of-town. Well, there's really no way to bid long-distance. If you would like to donate something and can get it here quickly then you can send along an item. Someone can also make a monetary donation to the fund. The checks can be made out to Holy Cross Catholic Church - Bo Porter Fund and mailed to the church.

Well, we're trying anyway. I started off delivering posters on Saturday and Peg & Theresa are all over town spreading the word with our lovely posters printed by Dixon Graphics. Look for the posters when you are out and about. They are yellow and have pictures of Bo all over them. Cindy and I are working away on the program that will list all the auction baskets. I expect to break 200 items in the auction by Thursday. We are also working on the refreshment logistics. The countdown has begun. There are 12 days left until the big event.

It took me two hours to drop off posters at 20 area businesses today. I hope to do at least a few more tomorrow. The first one spotted hanging up was at Needleworks in Champaign. Lots and lots of posters should start popping up all over town this week. Also, look for an article about Bo in the News Gazette. I think it's supposed to be a week from Sunday.

A Little Reminder

As the date of the "Big Event" creeps closer and there is so much to do. I thought I would take a minute to remember why I undertook this huge, monumental task. At times, this fundraiser has taken on a life of its own and I get a little panicky. I made a chart of how many volunteers I estimate it will take to pull this off. I think I came up with 96 one hour shifts. Most people are willing to work two hours, but the chart is still really, really empty. So, I'm going to take a deep breath and keep going. Thanks everyone for all your help.

These bobbleheads are sure to please both Cardinal's and Cub's fans alike. Aboe we have Yadier Molina, starting catcher for the St. Louis Cardinals. Yadi was the Ciefs catcher during their 2002 championship season and debuted with the Cardinal's in 2004.
The second bobblehead is Ron Santo. Santo played with the Chicago Cubs from 1960-1973. In that time he won 5 straight Gold Gloves from 64-68 and made 9 all-star teams. Santo is currently in his 18th season broadcasting Cub's games on WGN radio

We have reached over $5000 dollars in donations for the silent auction alone. That is not including door prizes, printing, etc. I really would like to thank all the volunteers who have been helping me and the businesses in the area who have been incredibly generous. I'd also like to thank Holy Cross Catholic Church for all their support. There have been many bumps in the road and we have weathered them well. Father Steve, Cindy, Yola, and all the office employees have been wonderful. Peg's enthusiam and energy has been unwavering. John has been fantastic and I am meeting many more wonderful volunteers. Joyce has jumped in with both feet this week. Tracy and her daughters are hard at work. It has been a humbling experience working with the members of the church. There are many more volunteers that I've yet to meet in person. Thank you Theresa from Carle. We couldn't do this without your help and your family's help too. Prayer is a wonderful thing and it has certainly helped us over the last several weeks.
